Getå Ravine

Directly by the hotel and on our land is the unique Getå ravine - a 500 million year old crevice in mother earth. Along the Getå river is a beautiful walking path leading into the magnificent ravine landscape.

With a bit of luck you can see the rare bird White-throated Dipper, as well as hearing the nightingale. And if you stroll quietly you might also see some moose and elks. You will be fascinated by the huge fir trees, some over 130 years old.

Day cruise between Söderköping (32 km from our hotel) and Norsholm on the M/S Vimman. You will experience one of the most beautiful parts of the canal.

Fishing waters

Getå Hotel & Conference own 50 hectare of fishing waters in the bay of Bråviken and private fishing rights in the stream of Getå. Nearby there are several lakes in the area of Kolmården and in Norrköping the commune´s fishing in Motala River.

Species of fish

The character fishing of Bråviken is herring. The Bråvik’s Herring is a well known term.

In the past, Bråviken and Motala River were playgrounds for salmon and trout. Salmon fishing in the river was only permitted for the king or the then current ruler. Nowadays salmon and trout are introduced into the river to compensate for the spawning routes closed by the industrial landscape.

Along the coastline of Bråviken there are areas of reeds where huge pikes and perches lurk. There are crayfish in many of the lakes in Kolmården and Getå river.

Fishing

You can fish for pike and perch from the beach with a spinning rod as well as salmon and trout in certain places. A boat will improve the accessibility. The best catching time is during spring and autumn but can also be very good during the summer. The herring fishing is best before midsummer and the crayfish are caught during August and September.

In some waters you may be able to fly fish. During the wintertime you fish from the ice - mainly perch and pike. Getå Hotel & Conference can provide a fishing license where necessary.
